Growing up in the Midwest, I thought I fully understood humidity and not being able to escape from the heat. Add a million skyscrapers, packed city streets and stuffy subways and I finally understand why people are crawling out of the city every weekend during this time of year.
When it’s 90 degrees in the middle of June, wearing black does not seem appropriate…or pleasant. But since my closet is filled with Little Black Dresses, it’s hard for me to stay too far away. It’s such a classic color that we can make work year-round. Here are some tips if you’re planning to wear black this summer:
- Make sure it’s a lighter fabric that won’t weight you down too much. (stay away from heavy cottons and wool)
- Incorporate the cut-out & off-the-shoulder trends so what you’re wearing is breathable. Check out my “shop the post” below for perfect options under $50!
- Keep the rest of your outfit light with minimal jewelry (like this necklace or these earrings) & accessories and simple shoes.
If you’re looking to dress up your LBD for a night out this summer, try these Vince Camuto Mairana ankle strap heels. P.S. They’re comfortable, too! My jewelry is from My Jewellery Story who specializes in timeless pieces.
