I can’t believe Christmas is over! It seems like the holidays really came and went, which also means it’s time to close out 2017. It’s hard to believe how much has happened in a year and how quickly it’s gone by. Now, it’s time to prep for 2018.
I like to get ready for the next year between Christmas and New Year’s. Once we go back to work on January 2nd, things are too busy and we lose focus on how to prepare for a new year. That’s why the next few days are so important as we prep for 2018. Everyone is feeling motivated and ready to get back in the swing of things next year. This is what I’m doing so I’m ready to take on my new years resolutions….
CLOSET CLEAN OUT
If you’re like me, your closet has doubled in size this holiday season. With a new sale happening everyday, I’ve really been stalking up on some great finds and things I definitely did not need. This just means it’s time to get rid of what we don’t wear anymore to find room for what’s new. My New York City sized closet is going to thank me!
Going back to work on January 2nd is going to be anything but easy but its better if we have goals in mind. No matter what industry or part of the country you work in, there are always goals you can set for your career. I like using the new year as a time to continue to set goals for myself on a 1-year, 3-year and 10-year basis when it comes to my career.
TECH CLEAN OUT
We all need this one. My main goal this year is to go from using a cloud based hard drive to an external hard drive. For some reason, my cloud based hard drive has not been working as well and I’m worried it’s not backing everything up that I need. So I just ordered this hard drive from amazon and going to transfer all of my filed onto it when it comes in the mail. This will also jumpstart my process of moving everything to a new computer. I desperately need one but the process is so daunting! Does anyone feel the same way?!
CREATING A “TO READ” LIST
I have never been one to just pick up a book in my free time. It’s a huge downfall of mine but I’m trying to get better at it every year! So this year I’m coming up with a “to read” list so I can enjoy reading more throughout the year and in my free time. I’m starting the year out with The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and currently finding more books to add to the list. If you have a book rec, please send them my way!
Reflection is V important here. What has made you happy this year? What hasn’t made you happy? We can get so caught up with what’s happening day-to-day that we lose sight of how it makes us feel. Now it’s time to take a step back and look at how our decisions are effecting our lives. Sometimes journaling and writing things down really helps. So buy yourself a pretty notebook to jumpstart your reflection and get writing!
I hope this helps as you head into 2018. Let’s do this New Year thing!
